5 Reasons to get hyped about UX

User experience (UX) and the field of interactive media are quite new topics for the average joe, but it sure is a growing field. User experience is a very important aspect in everything, even if we don't realize it. Want to consider a career in UX? Here are my five reasons why I'm excited about UX and the industry.

1. UX keeps you updated in current trends and developments

Since the main focus of UX is on the users, it’s very important to know what the users are currently using and what trends are a hot topic. This career field basically forces you to keep on top of your interactive media and tech game. Which I am not complaining of course!

2. You’re constantly building your knowledge

If I could stay in school and make a living off being a student, I totally would. Unfortunately, that’s not the case so the next best thing is going into the field of UX! Designers are forever students and are constantly learning, whether it be on new developments or on behaviours of users, a career in UX makes you a well knowledgeable individual in both human interaction and computer interaction.

3. You can choose to work in varying companies

The need for UX is crucial whenever you’re dealing with users and clients. In the interactive media industry, there are many different sub-sectors you can do. You can work for a healthcare company, or for a marketing agency or even in video games! It’s fitting for people who love to experience and meet different industries and people.

4. Be Creative

Yes, a career where my ideas can run wild! The field of UX and interactive media allows you to be creative and express your creativity with others. Content doesn’t have to be boring! This is where UX designers come in to spread their creative juices and implement them on products for people to use and enjoy.

5. Make a difference

Lastly, your work in the UX or interactive industry can make a difference. Some might disagree, saying that a doctor is more likely to make a difference than a UX designer. But, you’re making a difference in regard to the experience, affecting how the user feels. Being a mental health and psychology graduate, I value human emotions and the impact a negative emotion can have on someone. So even though you may not be a cardiologist, you’re still making an impact on the people.
